Module 3
Graphic Design
&
Photo Manipulation
I used Pixler to compose the first three images. It was challenging to follow the tutorials at first, since I wasn't familiar with Pixler. I found that I needed to really focus on the small pictoral changes in the tutorial for them to be helpful. I also found some youtube videos that illustrated the steps more visually explicit for me. But after painstaking trial and error and a full day, I was able to complete the module using photos from my own library. I cropped a portion of the rounded edge photo from my trip last spring to the Bay Area Maker Faire to use for the transparent photo. It was interesting to observe that seeing the isolated image of the transparent affect change the message that the original image (with the rounded edges) portrayed. For the composite image, I used two photos of sculptures from my trip to Italy from last summer. I adjusted the mode to change the "difference" to give it that cool purple swirl affect to make it look like clouds are covering the statue on the left foreground. The layered image was adjusted to a 96% opaque setting. On the other hand, Canva was much easier to use with so many template options and an intuitive set up. It only took a few minutes to create my business logo from scratch. I added a background photo that I took of a pie shaped placemat I have at home. I highly recommend using Canva for its ease of use and wonderfully fun options. It was a joy to use. All in all, I learned a lot in a short amount of time.
